I am an Automation Expert, drawn to simplification and best practices. I specialise in IT Infrastructure Automation, using Infrastructure as Code. I am also a published co-author of a book on PowerShell Core.

Expert (Automation, IT Infrastructure)

I am part of the Infrastrucure as Code team under Windows Hosting. We built a solution based on Infrastrucure as Code principles to automate Windows Server builds and maintain immutable configuration on them.

  • A green field solution that we built in-house, using PowerShell, Azure DevOps (including CI/CD), PowerShell DSC, MS SQL, Chocolatey, etc.
  • The solution was built from scratch, finding the best possible solutions for the requirements, following best practices in the industry.
  • I work as part of a fully self-managed Agile global team, spread across three countries; we won the CIO’s Excel award for efficienct automation using Infrastructure as Code.

Infra. Technology Specialist

I lead the offshore Infrastructure team for a renowned paper manufacturer in the US. I cut across the infrastructure fabric for the client, including VMware, Nutanix, Exchange, SCOM, SCCM and Citrix.

  • I specialise in PowerShell; built modules, with tens of functions for backup, clean-up, auto-healing, auditing, and disaster recovery.
  • I have led implementations of SCOM, SCCM, Citrix XenApp 7.15, DMARC, etc. Ask me about my experience with the projects.
  • Recently, I accepted additional responsibility in Active Directory, File Services, VMware infrastructure, and Nutanix.
  • I also trained fellow associates on PowerShell, helping them transition to automation teams across the organisation.

IT Architect, Book Reviewer, Podcaster (because, passion)

A few of us friends started a site, Meraki Post. It has been a journey to better control, performance and UX, with Jekyll, GitLab CI, AWS S3, CloudFront and Slack. Ask me about what I built!

The Weekend Lab

All work and no play makes …

  • I tinker with some of the world-favourite dev boards, such as the Raspberry Pi 3/4, Arduino Uno, Raspberry Pi Pico, micro:bit, etc.
  • I run my own Internet ad black-hole, media server, home storage solution and Docker, HomeAssistant on a Raspberry Pi; I am working on setting up a raid-enabled nas on it.
  • Building this résumé from scratch using Skeleton was a small fun activity I took up, from writing the Liquid-based pages, to setting up the build logic using Jekyll Collections. The project is available on GitHub.
  • Writing is my passion, too. Links to my blogs, short stories and books are available on my homepage, https://ramiyer.me.
